There is a true proverb in Hindi “ Jal Hai To Kal Hai” which means if there is water, then only our future is safe. Having belief in this thought MANUVIKASA is developing tanks, farm ponds and springs in the working area. This organization also developing different types of small water conservatory structures in community forest land. Minimum size of the farm pond will be 30 feet length 30 feet width and 10 feet depth. This organization has developed few big tanks also. MANUVIKASA has developed more than 2300 tanks and 5000 small water harvesting structures since last 05 years. MANUVIKASA has scaled the programme with the support of Deshpande Foundation. This organization able to mobilize more than 75% of community contribution in water harvesting programme.
MANUVIKASA started this farm pond and small tank construction programme with grant model. Now this organization has changed this grant model to service model. MANUVIKASA is developing free farm ponds and tanks to the very poor farmers with the support of Give India. This organization has developed several water harvesting structures in community forest land to conserve biodiversity and drinking water to the human and wild life.
Spring water tanks receive water through springs and no feeder channels required. Outside water flow to the tanks will be avoided. These tanks discharge 1.5 to 2 inches of water to the farmer’s field. On an average 50 thousand litres will be discharged every day.
