The existence of man is entirely depended on agriculture. Most of the food comes to man from land and animals. So adequate water is required from rain fall, ground water and springs to plant production. Water is essential to all life. Development of water supply should, however be undertaken in such a way as to preserve the hydrological balance and the biological functions of all ecosystems. This is crucial for marginal lands. MANUVIKASA is developing small tanks and springs in Uttara Kannada district with the support of Deshpande Foundation, Give India and other likeminded organizations and community support. MANUVIKASA is building the capacity of the farmers get more crop production in small land holdings through agro forestry, horticulture and SRI paddy cultivation.
